Mrs. Ethel Branch, 87, widow of former Monroe physician Dr. C. H. Branch, died at 11:45 a.m. Monday at the Decatur Community Care Center, following an extended illness. She was a member of the First Seventh Day Adventist Church at Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Branch, a former resident of Monroe, was a practical nurse and had been employed at the Adams County Memorial Hospital and Irene Byron Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born Dec. 26, 1887 in Adams County, she was the daughter of Amos and Clinda Majors-Brandyberry, and was first married to Joseph Gettas, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Dr. Branch.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Trella Hartnett of Scottville, Mich.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One son, Doyle, a daughter, Garnett Williams, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Gillig-Doan & Sefton funeral home, with Rev. Dan N. Neergaard officiating. Burial will be in Ray cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
