Mr. John Dixon French was born on October 12 1912 in Williamsburg, Whitley County, Kentucky, the son of John D. French and Margaret Miller (Steele) French. He was united in marriage to Augusta Catherine Childers about 1935 in Kentucky. They had four children, John Devoise, Donald Gene, Ronald Dean, and Barbara Kay. John was a boilermaker and welder in Baltimore, Maryland during WWII, and worked for the school district in addition to welding after the war. "J.D." had Property in Wallins Creek, Kentucky, and he also purchased two houses in Chattanooga, Tennessee, both on Union Avenue; one of which he called home until his death on March 21, 1980. Mr. French was laid to rest on March 23, 1980 in Highland Cemetery, Whitley County, Kentucky.
