Jewel Winifred Matthews Brown, 87, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas and formerly of West Columbia, Texas, died Saturday, December 30, 1995, at Mt. Ida, Arkansas. Brown was born January 4, 1908 in Millett. She is survived by her husband Lamar A. Brown of Mt. Ida, Arkansas; children: Winifred S. and Clifton Gibson of West Columbia, Dwight and Patsy Brown of Dallas, David and Ruby brown of Sagamore, Mass., and Harriet Beggs of Mt. Ida, Arkansas; brother, Marvin Matthews of Dilley; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 2 at 10 a.m. at Faith Christian Center in Dilley. Interment followed at Millett Cemetery with Rev. Charles W. Alley, officiating. Pallbearers were John Paul Gibson, Ricky Gibson, Steve Brown, Jamie Gibson, Mike Brown and Dwight Brown. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Hurley Funeral Home in Pearsall.
