Rev. W. H. Dale was born in Boalsburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania. He attended the Missionary Institute in Selinsgrove, graduating in 1886. In 1868 he graduated from Wittenberg. In 1890, he was ordained by the Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He married Ella H. Burns of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania 6/5/1890.
It is believed they had no children.
Following their marriage, he accepted a call to Blain, Perry County. He later had calls in Williamstown, Dauphin County and in Pittsburgh.
