An attempt was made to locate this headstone but it could not be found in the cemetery. The cemetery record shows that she was buried here, but there is no marker.
Lavina married David Carr, 27 Sep 1848, in Marlboro Twp., Stark Co., OH. They had two children.
In the early 1850s, David and Lavina moved from Marlboro, OH to Etna Green, IN, where David was engaged in the sawmill and lumber business. They were among the founding members of the town.
David's untimely death in 1856 at the age of 35, left Lavina with the two little boys to look after. Lavina and the boys moved back to Ohio to live with her parents in Lexington, OH. She found work as a Matron in a college dormitory at Mount Union College.
In her later years, Lavina lived in a cottage at Mt. Lookout, in Cincinnati, OH, which was built for her by her eldest son Jerome. She appears on the 1880 census living with Jerome's family in Mt. Lookout on Crawfish Ave. (now Delta Ave.) along with her younger son Philonzo.
