Birth: Mar. 27, 1880
Death: Sep. 7, 1966

Haxtun Harvest, Haxtun, Colorado, September 14, 1966

Adolph L. Waterman, 86, long-time resident of Phillips County, and a resident of Haxtun since 1933, passed away Wednesday, September 7, with death being attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Waterman had been working in his yard at his home in south Haxtun, and evidentially suffered the attack while mowing the lawn. Several employees of the Haxtun Co-Op elevator notice him lying on the ground near the mower and called Radford's ambulance. A doctor was also called, but death had come to the elderly man around 5:45.

Mr. Waterman and his family lived south of Holyoke for many years, moving to Phillips County from Venango, Nebraska in 1917. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Waterman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church from where funeral services were held Saturday afternoon with Rev. Dale C. Lehfeldt officiating.

Mrs. John Rahe was organist and accompanied Kenneth Rodeman, who sang "In The Garden" and "Forever With The Lord,"The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."

Escorts were Cecil Gruben, William DeBuhr, Raymond Papke, Lester Seger, Clarence Dick and Frank Westerman. William Maddox was usher.

At the services the following obituary was read:

Adolph Louis Waterman went home to be with his Lord, September 7, 1966. Adolph was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran and served his Lord faithfully as the Lord gave him strength.

Adolph was born March 27, 1880 at Blue Hill, Nebraska, to Adolph and Mary Waterman. February 9, 1905 he was married to Louise Krueger Waterman at Hastings, Nebraska. His wife preceded him in death in 1940.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Marie Schneider of Venango, Nebraska, Mrs. Sophia Buss of Haxtun, Mrs. Freida Buss of Peetz, and Mrs. Leta Rodeman of North Glenn; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Emma Stroup of Sterling and Mrs. Tillie Wehnes of Hastings, Nebraska; a stepson, William Waterman, of Sterling; 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, who are left with the everlasting comfort of Jesus Christ and with the assurance that Adolph is now with the Savior he loved and served.

I would not have you to be ignorant brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

Concluding service and burial was at the Haxtun cemetery.
