Clyde Coffey, son of William and Malsena Coffey, was born June 10, 1883 at Tera Haute, Indiana and passed away Monday, February 3, 1958 at Corydon, Iowa. He was thus at the time of his death 74 years, 7 months and 23 days of age.

When but a small child, he came with his parents to Iowa and the family settled on a farm near Humeston. Clyde later attended the Liscerne country school.

On November 20, 1901 he united in marriage to Carrie Mae Abel. To this union five children were born. One of which died in infancy.

Clyde was for many years a member of the Unity Baptist church, but when he retired from farming a few years ago he and wife joined the Humeston First Baptist church of which he was a member until the time of his death.
Having spent nearly all his life in the vicinity of Humeston and Cambria he had gained many friends who knew him as a good citizen, friend and a farmer and operator of a threshing machine. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Humeston. Three months ago he took sick and, with his fie, was taken to the rest home in Corydon, where he received the best of care.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie, one daughter, Mrs. Ila Lavere Rickert of Humeston, three sons, Homer of Humeston, Glen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Max Mardis near Leroy, three daughters in law, Juanita, Helen, and Kathryn, one son-in-law, Dean, thirteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, three brothers, Newton of Garden Grove, Ben of Promise City and Loren (Dick) of Humeston, and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Poland of Humeston.
Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist church of Humeston Wednesday, February 5th. Rev B. E. Nielsen officiated. The pall-bearers were six of his grandsons, Billy, Don, and Mardis Gene Coffey, and Dale, Wayne and Larry Rickert. The singers were Mrs. Emagene Kinnear, and Helen Richard. Flower girls were Mrs. Harold Abel and Mrs. Jim Able.
Interment was in the Green Mound cemetery, southwest of Humeston. (Green Bay)
