Maureena Jo Phillips, age 42, of 112 Dewey Avenue, Freeport died unexpectedly around 6:30 p.m. at home on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from an apparent brain aneurism.
Born in Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio, on February 20, 1968, she was a daughter of Mick & Phyllis Phillips of 102A Depot Street, Flushing, Ohio 43977. Maureena graduated from Union Local High School in 1986 and then enlisted in the US Navy where she was a cryptologist. She left the navy in 1998. She loved to do crafts, scrapbook, and to ride her Harley. She also enjoyed reading and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Surviving in addition to her parents are a son, Jacob Michael Phillips of Freeport companion, Timothy Neff of Freeport; a sister, Melissa (Joe) Van Fossen of Holloway; a brother, Michael (Carrie) Phillips of Flushing, a paternal grandmother, Irene Phillips of Beallsville; a step-son, Timothy (Jaclyn) Neff, Jr. of Uhrichsville; a step-daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Hickman of Cambridge; six step-grandchildren: Jacob, Katie, Madison, Tyler, Emily, Peyton; and Buckeye her canine companion and several nieces and nephews: Mindy, Ana, Megan, Michael, Owen, Maria.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Dreyer on September 16, 1998 and her paternal grandfather, Homer Phillips and maternal grandparents, Harry and Mary Kinney.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 South High Street, Freeport with Pastor Bob Merritt officiating. Military services and burial will follow in Moorefield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
