Emma Hostetler was born at Merrittown, Pa., on November 11, 1860. Her father was Joseph Hostetler and her mother was Mary Jane Hostetler. When she was about eleven years old, she accompanied her parents to Glasco, Kansas, arriving there in 1871. On September 10, 1881 at Glasco, she married Frank L. Ainsworth.
Five children were born to this union, Alice, Mitt, Blaine, Mae and Marjorie. The two boys died in December, 1890, both being buried on the same day and in the same grave.
Mrs. Ainsworth spent two years of her life at Salem, Ore., later moving back to Glasco, Kan., where she worked for three years beside her husband in the Ainsworth bank.
When she was 30 years old she and her husband united with the Christian church at Glasco.
On October 5, 1900, she and her husband and family of three girls moved to California, where she spent the rest of her life, with the exception of one year which was lived at Colorado Springs, Colorado.
So long as health permitted she was a devout worker in the Christian church of this city where she served as president od the missionary society for 21 years.
On Wednesday, May 15, 1935, she fell fracturing her hip, passing away three days later, Saturday, May 18th.
She leaves besides her many friends in Orange and near by towns, her husband, Frank L. Ainsworth, three daughters, Mrs. Groover Gearhart, Burbank, Cali.; Mrs. Arch D. Burkett, Orange, Cali.; and Mrs. Newell H. Moore, Garden Grove, Cali.; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Ott, The Dalles, Ore.; Mrs. Alice Jamison, Glasco, Kansas; one brother, Jesse Hostetler, Portland, Ore.; and eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
