| Birth: | Mar. 6, 1835 | | Death: | Jan. 20, 1920 |  Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served during the Civil War as a Private in Company B, 148th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Spotsylvania, Virginia on May 12, 1864. His citation reads "Capture of flag, wresting it from the color bearer and shooting an officer who attempted to regain it". His Medal was issued on December 1, 1864. He was one of four 148th Pennsylvania Infantry soldiers to be awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery during the Civil War (the others being Private Robert W. Ammerman, Captain Jeremiah Z.
