Meta Katherine Hardekopf was born March 8, 1877 to Fred and Katherine Hardekopf in Belum, Germany. When seven years of age, she came to America with her parents, settling at Harvard, Nebraska, then later moving to the Grand Island area.

She was married to H. C. von Aschwege in October, 1904.

At an early age, Mrs. Aschwege became a member of the Evangelical church. Later, after her marriage to Mr. Aschwege, she became a member of the Methodist church until the church of which they were members was disbanded. She then became a member of the Archer E.U.B. church and was a faithful member until her death, passing away November 16 at the Coolidge Rest Home in Palmer at the age of 88 years 8 months and 8 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing four sons, Arthur, Paul, Raymond and Arnold, all of Palmer; also one daughter, Mrs. Lydia Sorgenfrei of Tacoma, Wash.; one brother, Fred Hardekopf of Grand Island; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.
