Edith May Oyler, 86, of Sanford and formerly of Palatka, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at Gracious Age Nursing Home in Sanford following an extended illness. A native of Havana, Kan., she had lived here since 1974, coming from Iowa. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Palatka and had been a sales representative with Avon for 35 years.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Oyler of Longwood and David Oyler of Palatka; two daughters, Nancy Jean Stanberry of Louisville, Ky., and Carolyn Sue Whitaker of Tennessee; brother, Marlin Thompson; two sisters, Geneva Kruse and Gail Thompson; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. In honoring Mrs. Oyler's wishes, her body is being donated to science.
