Burnell S. Horstmann, 76, Hermann, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at his home.
Mr. Horstmann was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Berger, the son of Charles E. Horstmann and wife Elda, nee Bopp.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, where at one time he was a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent and served several times on the church council.
Mr. Horstmann was active in the Showboat Theatre in Hermann.
Mr. Horstmann was a member of Hermann Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4182.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Tokyo, Japan. He attained the rank of corporal.
He was employed by International Shoe Company, Ritepoint Inc., Arthur Dufner Motors, the Hermann Bank and Great Western Bank in Phoenix, Ariz., before it was purchased by Citibank.
Mr. Horstmann was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two sisters, Charleen Haid, Berger, and Delores Huxol and husband Earl, Hermann; one niece; five nephews; his special friends, Marilyn Greenwell and Al Krnc, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 11, at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, with the Rev. Darrel Decker officiating.
Burial was in Oak Haven Memorial Garden, Hermann.
