Lucy Ann Major Lindsey was the daughter of James Alfred and Jane (Scott) Lindsey. She was named after the wife of family friend Ben Major, founder of Eureka College in Eureka, IL. (Major is NOT a maiden name, but one of her two middle names.) Lucy died at the age of 20 after being thrown off a horse. Photo by Al and Carole Martin, 2007.
