"William Edwin "Abe" Mogridge, Sr, age 90, of Alcoa, passed away Wednesday May 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

He was a combat veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army in Europe. He was retired from Vulcan Materials after 36 years. He was an active member of the Salvation Army for many years. For over twenty three years he rang the bells for the Salvation Army at K-Mart in Alcoa. After his health declined he attend Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was also an active member of the VFW Post 10855 in Alcoa where he served as Chaplain.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Naomi Perkins Mogridge; infant twin sons Terry and Joseph; parents, William Fredrick and Mary Alice Walker Mogridge; and his second wife, Flossie Garner Mogridge.

We would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Blount Memorial Transitional Care Morning View Village in Maryville for all the love and care they gave to not only Abe but his entire family.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday May 16, 2014 at the First Christian Church, 400 South Court Street, Maryville, Tn 37803 followed by funeral service at 1:00 pm, with Nathan Weinbaum, Rev. Gary Henline and David Bayless officiating.

The family and friends will meet at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 541 Pleasant Hill Road, Maryville, Tn 37803 at 2:30 pm Friday for Graveside and military rites with Pastor Mike White officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
