Colonel of the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry at The Battle of Gettysburg. Brevet Brigadier General. He was serving as Colonel of the 114th Pennsylvania Infantry At Fredericksburg, Virginia, on December 13, 1862, when he earned the Medal of Honor.
