Walter McNemar killed in auto accident

Last rites were held here August 8 at 2 p.m. for Walter Allen McNemar, who was killed Sunday morning in an automobile accident on Highway 82 West near Greenville.

Mr. McNemar, who was 49 years old, was employed as a cook on a Mississippi River barge. He was a native of Carroll County and a World War II Veteran.

Services were at Oliver Funeral Home chapel with Bert Dickman officiating. Burial was in Vaiden cemetery, with Oliver in charge.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Anderson McNemar, Memphis; his mother, Mrs. Lillie M. Gant, Winona, two children Gary Lamar McNemar and Dorothy Louise McNemar, Memphis.

Four brothers, William G. McNemar, Winona; Bluford Gant, West; Floyd Gant, Norman, Oklahoma and Murphy Gant, Vaiden; three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Hightower, Vaiden; Mrs. Shirley Lester, Winona; and Mrs. Helen Faye Rushing, Vicksburg.

Also, a grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Grady Tullos, Bobby Lester, Roy Rushing, L. T. Noah, Delmer Miller, and Richard Turbeville.
