MAX ROCKWELL, 84, formerly of 222 Chestnut St., Athens, died at the Bradford County Manor, Thursday, Dec. 2, 1993. Born Feb. 5, 1909, in East Troy, he was the son of Clarence and Helen Lamont Rockwell. He was a member of the East Troy Baptist Church. He graduated from the Troy High School in 1927 and moved to the Valley area in 1960. His first employment was with the Troy Engine Co. as a machinist. After moving to the Valley, Max was employed by the Fischer Tool Co. for 11 years, retiring in 1971. He was predeceased by a daughter, Eileen, in 1940. He is survived by his wife of 61 years. Dorotha, at home; two daughters, Mrs. James (Betty) Miller of Lewisburg, Pa. and Mrs. Thomas (Dorotha) Welch of Athens; five grandchildren, Dorothy Leavenworth of Towanda, Jane Dickson of Sayre, Carol Hooper of Sayre, Bonnie Lineburg of Athens and Patti Welch of Athens; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Lowery Funeral Home in Athens on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral and committal services will follow at 11 a.m. with the minister of the Athens United Methodist Church, the Rev. Howard Hockenbury, officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy. –Towanda Daily Review.
