OBITUARY

Estella May Fleming, daughter of George W. and Mary (Frizzel) Smith, was born September
20, 1876 in Louisa county and died at the Decatur County Hospital June 29, 1965 at the age
of 88 years, 9 months and 9 days.

When a small child she moved with her family to Decatur County, south of Garden Grove.
She was the second child of 12 children.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, her husband, infant son, four sisters,
Eva Metz, Myrtle Collins, Pearl Coker and Flossie who died in infancy, three brothers,
Chester, Otto and Eddie.

She attended church at High Point Methodist church. She attended rural schools in that
neighborhood, finishing school by taking Normal Tarining (Training) in Leon. She taught
school several terms before marriage.

She was united in marriage to Harry Fleming on June 22, 1899. To this union were born nine
children, seven boys and two girls. One son died in infancy. Floyd, (of) Lineville, John,
(of) Chariton, Leslie of Washington state, Jesse, Viola Wiley and Lena Flynn all of Leon,
George and Elmer of the home. Eight grandchildren. Sisters, Ellen Metz, (of) Chariton,
Maude Shiltz, Newtown, Mo., Edith Gannon, Ravenna, Mo., and one brother Lloyd of Leon.

They spent their married life in Decatur County excepting three years in Oregon and two in
Allerton. They moved to their present home 38 years ago.

Her husband died August 19, 1951. She continued to live on the farm with her sons until
death.

She was a faithful wife and mother, doing all in her power for her family.
