CRYSTAL SPRINGS MAN ENDS LIFE:
Despondency because of ill health is thought to have caused I.M. Barton, 64, Crystal Springs, to hang himself in his barn early Saturday morning.
The man's body was found by his grandson, Walter Barton and his brother-in-law, Edward Barton, hanging by chains from a peg in the wall of the barn, where they went after being summoned to search for Barton by his wife about 3:30 a.m. Barton had been dead only a few minutes when his body was found.
The chains suspending the body were so low that it had been necessary for Barton to lean forward to take his life.
I.M. Barton was born at Emmaville and was a son of James and Jane Evans Barton. He was united in marriage with Alice M. Hess, who survives with one daughter, Mrs. Olive Helsel, Wells Valley, Fulton county; a brother, W.F. Barton, McConnelsburg, and a sister, Mrs. Edward Barton, Crystal Springs.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Akersville Methodist church, of which the deceased was a member. Interment was made in the Akersville cemetery.
