My Dearest Daddy,
I am so very sorry that I am unable to attend your service...I am also extremely sorry that I could not make it home in time to be with you...No one will ever know the depth of hurt that is inside of me from losing you...I am thankful to the Good Lord that he took you home so you would not suffer thru all this pain and misery anymore...That is the one comfort I do have from this...You have always been such a wonderful Daddy to all of us, and to see you suffering and in pain was just not right!!!
My precious Daddy, I am taking comfort in all the wonderful memories that I have with you for the past 32 years...I will always miss you, but you will always be in my heart...Your memory will never fade...I will tell Shiloh all about the wonderful and loving Papa that she never got to meet, and thru me, she will love you just as I do...I will miss all our phone conversations...You and I used to never go a day without talking on the phone at least once, most times more than once tho...I remember all the great times when we lived in the mountains, going to the river together as a family...I remember the time you, Mom, Michael and I went to Queen Wilhelmina to camp, we sat at the picnic table and played a board game by lantern light...You bought me a postcard at the gift shop which turned into my postcard collecting habit...I remember the simple times like these most...I used to love to go outside and play while you mowed...It was always so peaceful...I loved the smell of fresh cut grass, and to this day, it always reminds me of you out on the mower mowing the lawn...I loved the early morning walks we used to take together...How we used to go to town together all the time when I lived at home...Used to love sitting with you, Mom, and Michael and watching Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman...The Price Is Right, you loved that and I always liked watching it with you...I loved the family time when we got together and played Spoons after Sheila Wilson and her kids taught us how to play!!!
Daddy, I wish you could have met Shi...She is so precious...You were always so excited about her...I remember the day she was born, Easter Sunday, you were so excited, saying you were getting an Easter baby instead of an Easter bunny...You and Mom called here one time when she was about a month old and you asked me during the conversation how your baby girl was, I said Daddy I'm fine, you said, I was talking about my little baby girl...I said, oh I'm not your baby anymore, you said yes but she's my little baby girl...You were so very proud of her...You could not wait to see her...Always bragging because she looked like her Papa...You said she looked like you, not anyone else...You could not wait to hold her...I told you to hurry and get that back of yours better so you could hold her when we get there and you said, oh honey, my back isn't going to stop me from holding my baby granddaughter...You were always talking about when we came home...You were so ready to meet her and Jag...You would tell me funny stuff to say to Jag and always wanted to know what his reaction was...When I came home last year to visit, you took pictures of me while I was carrying Shiloh...You and Mom gave us some of our first Christmas gifts for her and they will always be treasured...Jag and I are so proud of them...We are proud to call you her Papa, my Daddy and his Father-n-Law...We will tell Shi all about her Papa and how excited he was...We will meet again one day...When we do, you can finally hold your little baby girl and meet your Son-in-Law...Till then Daddy we will hold you close in our hearts and memories!!! Daddy I Love You, Shi loves you and Jag loves you!!!
Daddy I could never list all my memories of you, but I wanted to be able to let you know one last time how much it all meant to me...Daddy I Love You with all my heart and always will...You will forever be loved and remembered...You were the strength of our family...We will continue on and live in a way that you would be happy and proud of my dear and precious Daddy...This is not goodbye Daddy because we will all be together again one day!!!
Love To You From Your Baby Daughter, Christy

What Makes A Dad

A Dad is a person
who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens,
suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one
of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
and helpful and strong
In all that you do,
a dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him
deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad...
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!

Our Family Chain

We little knew that morning
That God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly;
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
