Robert de Courtenay, died on July 26, 1242 at Iwerne, Dorset, and was buried at the Forde Abbey. Robert was the son and heir of Renaud de Courtenay, of Sutton, Berks (1161). He lost his great possessions in France about 1150 when King Louis VII seized them and granting them to his own youngest brother, Pierre (ancestor of the French Courtenays).
He was the fifth great grandson of King Robert II and Constance of Arles)
