Sister Sarah, better known as Sallie, was the daughter of Bro. Geo. W. and Sister Tennessee Edwards; was born November 4, 1882; died March 16, 1926, at the age of 43 years, 4 months ans 12 days.
During the past twenty years she has served as a trained nurse. On the 24th of December, last, she underwent a serious operation for appendicitis from which she never recovered. About three weeks ago she came to the home of her parents and since that time her death has been expected at any time. Her loved ones did all they could to save her but their efforts failed them, and in the morning of the 16th at 5 o'clock she quietly passed away. God called her from her earthly home to the heavenly home above. She will be sadly missed by the dear parents and children and her many friends in the community that knew her so well. Her friends will long remember her kind words and deeds of charity. A good many years ago she united with the Mt. Zion Christian Church. She transferred her membership to the Baptist Church later.
The funeral services were held in the home in the presence of many sorrowing relatives and friends. Scripture lesson was read from the fifteenth chapter of First Corinthians. The 12th verse was chosen for the text.
She leaves to mourn her departure a kind father and a loving mother, six brothers--Louis, Arthur, George, Jr., Albert, John and Joseph; three sisters--Mrs. Fannie Hawken, Mrs. Maud King and Mrs. Anna Gilzean. Also she leaves many other relatives and friends.
Died from a peritoneal abscess following surgery performed in December 1925.
