Augusta "Gussie" was the 1st of 4 children born in the Hawaiian Islands. She was the 3rd of 18 children born to Joseph & Mary Freitas. On August 20, 1927, she married Joseph Pimentel & had 4 children, John (died a few days after birth), Marie born Oct, 6, 1929, Alfred born Mar 19, 1931 & Carol born May 17, 1937. In 1940 she went to work for Todd Shipyards in Richmond as a spot welder. After 8 yrs she left the shipyard to open a bar in Oakland in 1951, called the 3 Monkeys (named for her 3 children) She was self employed and would often work from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. In her leisure time she enjoyed raising pigeons, gardening, but the height of her glory was sitting on a bank with a fishing pole in her hand. In addition to her children, she has 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild.
She passed away at the age of 55.
