Birth: 1895
Death: Feb. 10, 1937

Mrs. Jacobsen, nee Josephine Lawton, was the wife of Charles W. Jacobsen. Born c.1895, she was the daughter of Louis B. Lawton, a graduate of West Point who had been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for heroism during the Boxer Rebellion in China; her mother was the former Theresa Kelsey of Auburn, NY. After her father's retirement from the Army, he established an Oriental rug company in nearby Seneca Falls, NY, but remained active in military social circles. Josephine consequently met and married Army officer Charles W. Jacobsen. In 1924 her husband left the military to became an Oriental rug dealer, and the couple traveled to many exotic locales acquiring inventory for the Lawton family business. The marriage was cut short by her death at age 42. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jacobsen's survivors included her parents and her younger sister, Mrs. Anne Marie Lawton Davis.
