Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, he moved to California with his family in the early 1910s.

He enlisted in the California National Guard in May of 1924 and was honorably discharged in Dec of 1926.

He married Wilma (Belfield) Wallace, mother of three daughters, Dorothy, Edith and Annabel, in 1927. He and Wilma had a son in 1935. Wilma died in 1943.

Curly was general foreman of United States Spring and Bumper, located at 50th & Magnolia in Bell Gardens. They made armor plate and other necessary defense items, so he did not serve during World War II.

Curly remarried, in 1945, to Betty Lea Downs. They had a daughter in 1950.

He died in 1953 of Coronary Sclerosis, in Redondo Beach. He was buried in Park Lawn Cemetery, next to his first wife, Wilma, in Commerce, CA.
