Blanche Abbott was the only child of Benjamin H. and Emma Agnes Heberling Abbott. She attended District 11 (Bogus) school and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1918.
She began piano lessons at the age of ten, studying with local teachers Maude Abernathy, Viola Abbott Gibson, and Fern Criss. Anna Schulte, who taught Blanche as she began high school, had just returned from Germany where she had studied in Munich and Berlin.
After graduating from high school, Blanche attended Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln where she studied the private teaching of piano.
Her music career spanned more than six decades and reached generations of students from St. Edward and surrounding area.
