...Mrs. Mathilda Elizabeth Ross, eighty-four, lifelong resident of the La Plata area, died Monday night in a Kirksville hospital after an extended illness.
...Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the La Plata Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Clayborn officiating. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery under the direction of the Christie Funeral Service.
...The daughter of Robert and Ann (Blessing) Magers, she was born in Macon County on December 7, 1879.
...She was married to Henry Melvin Ross on November 19, 1897. He died July 1, 1952. Three children were born to them.
...Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ira (Valma) Bruce of La Plata and Mrs. Arthur (Maudie) Trader of Yarrow; one son, Harvey D. Ross of Columbus, Nebraska; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Melvin Magers, of Valley Home, California.
...She was member of the La Plata Baptist Church, the Royal Neighbors of America and the La Plata Rebekah Lodge.
...Bearers were Harry Ward, Lewis Fulmer, Elvin Bragg, Horace Hill, James E. Naughton and George Huffman.
