George E. Baldwin, 70, of 232 31st died Sunday morning at his home after a lingering illness.
Mr. Baldwin was born September 4, 1894 in Cannonville, Utah, a son of George Henry and Martha Ann Mangum Baldwin. He had resided in Ogden for the past 40 years.
On June 23, 1915, he was married to Margaret Davis in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was employed as a barber in the Healy Hotel, later the Earl Hotel, for 40 years, retiring five years ago. He was a group leader in the LDS Eleventh Ward High Priest Quorum and served a mission in the Souther States from 1917 to 1919. He was a member of the Barbers Union.
Surviving are his widow, one son, Earl Ross Baldwin, Houston, TX,, five daughter, Mrs. George M. (Ila) Schlosser, Ogden; Mrs Jay (Bernice) Nielsen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Robert J. (Maxine) Henstra, Hooper; Mrs Tony (Elaine) Marinda, San Pablo, CA; Mrs. Robert (Colleen) Ayers, Webster City, Iowa; 26 grandchildren, seven great-grand children, one brother, C. Angus Baldwin.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1pm in Linquist and Sons Colonial Chapel with Bishop Harry P. Nastell of the Eleventh Ward officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 7 to 9pm and Wednesday prior to services. Burial in the Washington Heights Memorial Park.
