Burns, Cora Martha

Cora Martha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fosnow, was born in the town of Akan, Richland Co., Wisconsin, Nov. 26, 1872. Here she grew to womanhood and was united in holy matrimony to James E. Burns on April 29, 1889. God Blessed this union with 5 children, 3 daughters and 2 sons.
For the past 20 years, Mrs. Burns has suffered more or less with bodily afflictions having been confined to her bed for the past nine weeks. She bore all her suffering with patience and after all that human hands could do for her comfort and recovery she peacefully passed on to her reward at her home in the town of Sylvan on Sat. Morning Dec. 25, 1926, Having reached the age of 54 years and 29 days.
In early life she confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized. Later she united with the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where her membership still remains. She was a very devoted wife and mother and very highly respected by all who know her.
Her passing will be mourned by her husband and 4 children, Mrs. Guy Bailey of Viola, Ora, Bernice, and Walter at home. One daughter Vada, preceded her in death March 20, 1908. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 7 sisters and 3 brothers besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday Dec. 27. at the B Church at Sylvan. The services were conducted by the Rev. GA. A. Adams of Excelsior and the body was laid to rest beside that of her daughter in the Sylvan Cemetery.
