Samuel J. Dayhoff, 92, of Gettysburg R. 5, died Sunday at the Warner Hospital in Gettysburg.
Born in Hanover, Mr. Dayhoff was the son of the late Augustus and Annie Reineaman Dayhoff.
Mr. Dayhoff's wife, the former Grace Sterner, died in 1977.
He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in White hall, and was a farmer in Mt. Pleasant Township for most of his life. Mr. Dayhoff was also a charter member of the Bonneauville Fire Company, and a member of the Gettysburg Moose and Eagles Lodges. He was a Republican committeeman in Mt. Pleasant Township until his death.
He is survived by four sons, Theron F. Dayhoff of Gettysburg R. 5, Francis F. Dayhoff of Gettysburg R. 5, Kenneth J. Dayhoff of Gettysburg, and Robert J. Dayhoff of Gettysburbg R. 9; two daughters, Alta Flickinger of Gettysburg and Bernice Appler of Littlestown R. 1; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Survivors also include two sisters, Connie Snyder of Hanover and Effie Sponseller of Gettysburg R. 7.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.
