Professional Hockey Player. For four seasons (1953 to 1954, 1955 to 1958), he played at the center position in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Black Hawks and Detroit Red Wings. Following two years with the Galt Black Hawks junior squad (where he scored 31 goals during the 1954-1955 season), he was promoted to the NHL. While with Chicago, Lalande recorded two double-digit assist seasons (1955-1956 with 18 and 1956-1957 with 17), and added 11 goals scored during the 1956-1957 season. In 151 career NHL games, he compiled 21 goals and 39 assists. After a brief stint with Detroit (12 games in 1958), Lalande joined the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey Association, where he was a member of two consecutive Calder Cup championship teams (1957-1958 and 1958-1959). He concluded his playing career in 1968 with the Belleville Mohawks of the Ontario Hockey Association, and would return to North Bay where he was a hockey and baseball coach.
