Constant was born in Portsmouth, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.

Constant married Patience Cook. Patience was the daughter of Captain John Cook and Mary (Havens) Cook. He widowed her (She married Antipas Hathaway and died 17 January 1764). They had children:
Edward - 13 January 1715/16
Benjamin - 6 January 1717/18
Mary - 13 April 1720
Martha - 20 September 1723
Constant (twin) - 12 August 1726
Nathaniel (twin) - 12 August 1726


Constant died on 9 March 1726/27 in Freetown, Bristol county, Province of Massachusetts Bay.
