British Army Officer, spy, philologist, founder of Brazier's College, and father of Marianne. Born in Cosford, Suffolk, he was serving as a lecturer in Italian at Liverpool University when, on the outbreak of the Second World War, he joined the Intelligence Corps. He died in Wallingford, in Oxfordshire, and was buried on the 4th. March 1998 in the nearby village of Ipsden. The ashes of his second wife, Margaret (nee Kipps), with whom he had two sons and a daughter, were placed in his coffin. Unfortunately, there is no marker on his grave, and the precise location of it within the graveyard is unknown.
