On August 23, 2010, our beloved brother in Christ left our worldly presence for his heavenly journey home after a long battle with Leukemia.
Jes was born in Del Rio, Texas to Maria Petra Hernandez (Carrillo) and Rodolfo C. Hernandez. They migrated to California and settled in the Bay Area when he was an infant. He attended Lincoln High School, and shortly thereafter he served an enlistment in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Upon returning to California, he began a 25-year career with GTE Sylvania in Mountain View. During his tenure there, he was actively involved with the Police Athletic League (PAL) where he was honored with Coach of the Year and eventually went on to hold the position of Commissioner. He also volunteered for hospice, and spent a lifetime forming priceless, meaningful bonds with both the young and the old. In his retirement, he was a faithful member of The New Testament Christian Church and joyfully served as a Deacon.
Jes leaves a wonderful legacy of family, to include his wife and sweetheart of 42 years, Blanca Esthela Hernandez (Davila); his brothers and sisters, Ruben Hernandez (Carolyn), Maria Renteria, Juan Hernandez (Linda), Maricela McCullough (Robert), Samuel Hernandez (Shannon), Carlos Hernandez, and David Hernandez; his children Denise Caraballo, Lynette Yarnell, and Jessica Yarnell (Donnie); six grandchildren Querube, Uriel, Janessa, Jacob, Angeleah, and Serafin. And one great-grandchild, Amalia.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 7.
