Services Wednesday for Katie Hagedorn

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, March 9, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Omaha for Katie Hagedorn, 88, of Valhaven Colonial Manor in Valley and formerly of Fort Calhoun, who died at Blair Memorial Hospital March 5, 1983.

Chaplain John Hargreaves conducted the services. Burial was in the German Cemetery near Bennington.

Katie Hagedorn was born February 19, 1895 in Chalco, Nebraska, to Ludwig and Cathrina Kuhl Luschen. On June 16, 1895, she was baptized into the Evangelical Church, Katherina Elizabeth Luschen, and on April 9, 1911, she was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Pender, Nebraska.

She married John Hagedorn on February 16, 1921, at Bennington. She and her husband farmed in the Irvington, Bennington, Fort Calhoun and Clarks areas for many years. They later moved to Central City where she worked in the Cold Storage Plant.

In 1955, they came back to Douglas County where they worked at Clearview Home. The following year they bought their home in Fort Calhoun where they lived for 26 years until ill health prevented her from living along and she moved to Valhaven Colonial Manor in Valley.

Although she never had children of her own, many individuals thought of her as a mother and grandmother.

She entered the hospital on February 23, 1983.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in August, 1973; two brothers, John and Henry Luschen; and four sisters, Annie Luschen, Sophie Richards, Marie Vogt and Minnie Wiese.

She is survived by one sister, Rose Wiese; two sisters-in-law, Alma Luschen of Wayne and Mildred Heyne of Pender; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Charles Soll, Clifford Soll, Raymond Soll, Harvey Soll, Gene Soll and Rich Soll.
