Hans P. Wrich, Old Settler, Died Late Wednesday

Came to America In 1869. Family Settled In Washington County

Hans P. Wrich passed away, Wednesday night, February 2nd, after an illness of several weeks duration. He was born in Germany, but the family came to America when he was eleven weeks old, settling for a short time in Calhoun, and later moving to a farm southeast of Kennard, where he grew to manhood.

On October 31, 1895 he was married to Miss Bertha Kuhr, and they continued to reside on the old home farm, where their family of six children were born and reared.

Retiring from the active duties of the farm, Mr. and Mrs. Wrich moved to Blair in 1925, purchasing a nice home on West Washington Street, where they lived in comfort enjoying the fruits of their labor, and association of their children and friends.

Of the six children, four are surviving. William died in 1919, at the age of 18 years, and Herman died in 1918 at the age of 10. Those living are Chris, of Cheyenne, George and Otto, of Blair; Mrs. Walter Japp, of Kennard, and there are also sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. These, with the wife are left to mourn the death of their loved one. One brother, Chris, of Blair; is the only surviving member of the original family.

Funeral services will be held, Sunday, at two p.m., from the house, and at 2:30 from the Methodist Church, and burial will be made in the German cemetery south of Blair.
