MERRITTS - John Kenneth, 95, of Church of the Brethren Home, formerly of Connor Towers, died Aug. 8, 2006, at Windber Hospice. Born Nov. 21, 1910, in Hollidaysburg, son of Samuel Calvin and Margret (Reynolds) Merritts. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, Erma Wishard; and sisters, Mary Kathryn Merritts and Betty Barkley. Survived by wife, former Ruth E. Miller; daughter, Peggy Hood, Scotia, N.Y.; brother, Reynolds "Ren," Juniata, Pa.; stepson, Gary Mack, Johnstown; grandchildren, Nancy Peck (Warren) and Robert J. Hood (Anne); stepgrandsons, Bill and Troy Mack; great-grandchildren, Kirsten Hood and Whitney and Raechel Peck. Member of Moxham Lutheran Church. Charter member of Scotia Kiwanis. Former member of Scotia Masonic Lodge. Retired employee of Block's Department Store. Friends received from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at 11 a.m. at the John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Pastor Robert Wagner. Interment, Fairview Cemetery.
