Mrs. Amanda McCartney, widow of Ellsworth McCartney, passed away at the home of her son, John McCartney, of Kistler, on Sunday afternoon, December 26, 1937.
She was born in Franklin county on November 18, 1859, and at the time of death was aged 77 years, 1 month, and 8 days.
Surviving to mourn her passing are the following children: Mrs. J.M. (Mary Belle) Arnold of Fannettsburg, John W. McCartney of Kistler, Mrs G.C. (Minnie) Rhoads of Neelyton, Clinton A. McCartney of Altoona, and Paul E. McCartney of Haws. These brothers and sisters also survive: Harry A. Cowan of Decorum, C. Alexander Cowan of Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Levi (Myra) Wible of Mount Union, and Mrs. P.E. (Minnie) Traxler of Doylesburg.
Short prayer services were held at the home of her son, John McCartney of Kistler, on Wednesday afternoon, December 29, 1937 at 1:30 o'clock, after which the funeral cortege went to the Pleasant Hill church where services were conducted by the Rev Charles Miller. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. Reihart's funeral service.
