STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Clifford Gordon Evenson will be 2 p.m. Saturday at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell with the Revs. Douglas W. Westerlund and Frezil Daniel Westerlund co-officiating. Burial will be in East St. Olaf Cemetery in the spring.
Mr. Evenson, 78, of 6648 Highway 30 S.W., Stewartville, a longtime area farmer, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 2000) at Stewartville Care Center following a short illness.
Born Oct. 26, 1921, on the family farm in Rock Dell Township, Olmsted County, he grew up there and attended area rural schools. On Dec. 14, 1958, he married Mildred Zuhlke at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He lived on the family farm all his life until entering the care center in January. His wife is a homemaker. Mr. Evenson was a member of East St. Olaf Lutheran Church and served on its Stewardship Committee.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Sharon Evenson of Stewartville and Judy (Mrs. Timothy) Schatz of Stewartville; four grandchildren; six sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Cecil) Long and Doris Borland, both of Rochester, Eunice (Mrs. Clayton) Tiede of Mankato, Minn., Norma Evenson of Overland Park, Kan., Vivian Christianson of Plymouth, Minn., and Janet (Mrs. Curtis) Erickson of Golden, Colo.; and a brother, Ardean of Rochester.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and an hour before the service at the church.
