Daughter of the late Paul Sawyer and Ruth Bateman Sawyer, she was a retired teacher's assistant with the Washington County Schools. She was survived by her son, Shelton W. McNair, Jr. (Amy); daughter, June V. McNair; grandchildren, Caleb McNair and Justine McNair. She was a member of First Christian Church in Plymouth, NC, where her funeral was held on July 28, 2010, with The Rev. V. Tom Banks officiating.
