William George Bishop, son of Charles H. and Mary Trott Bishop, was born in Macon county, Missouri on March 11, 1860 and passed to his final home October 30, 1938 at the age of seventy-eight years, seven months and nineteen days.
He came to Buffalo county with his parents in 1874 and had resided here continuously since that time.
He was united in marriage to Mary Cornell on April 23, 1884 and to this union three children were born. On April 23, 1938 they celebrated the 54th year of their married life.
When a young man he united with the Methodist church.
His parents and three sisters, Mrs. Libbie Tandy, Mrs. Mabel Gravley and Mrs. Mattie Wilsey preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his parting, his wife, Mrs. Mary Bishop; one son, Charles William of Kearney; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Reynolds of Pleasanton and Mrs. Lucretia Frame of Sterling, Colorado; two brothers, Frank H. Bishop of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Charles E. Bishop of Riverdale; two sisters, Anna Bishop of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Mrs. Mamie Gravley of Corvallis, Oregon; also ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the U. B. church in Pleasanton Tuesday afternoon at two with the Rev. A. Swanson in charge. Burial was made in the Kearney Cemetery.
