OBITUARY - The Baytown (TX) Sun - Monday, 29 Dec 1952

S. R. BROOKS, CEDAR BAYOU RESIDENT, DIES

Samuel Rosemond Brooks, 77, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Cedar Bayou, died at 4 p.m. Sunday at his home on Bob Smith Rd. after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Bayou Methodist church with Rev. E. R. Burns, pastor of Cedar Bayou Baptist church, and Rev. Wayne McCleskey, pastor of St. Mark's Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Bayou Masonic cemetery under direction of Paul U Lee funeral home.

Survivors are four sons, Jesse Edward Brooks and Samuel Douglas Brooks of Cedar Bayou, W. M. Brooks of Baytown and Calvin S. Brooks of Houston; three daughters, Mrs. Velma Williams of Cedar Bayou, Mrs. George Horn and Mrs. T. D. Roten of Baytown, 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Brooks was a member of the Cedar Bayou Methodist church, the Baytown Woodman of the World lodge and the Woodmen Circle No 844.

Pallbearers will be Roy Andress, Frank Devereaux, E. T. Bishop, George Wright, Roy Donnelly and Louis Van Meldert.
