He was born February 17, 1930 in Greene County, IN, to the late Gordy and Fern Robison Arthur.

Herb was a graduate of Washington High School. He was the owner and operator of Custom Carpet Interiors and Installation for over 30 years. He married Alberta L. George in 1948, and she preceded him in death. Herb was a member of the Murat Shrine, the Shrine Bowling League, and the Gatling Gun Club where he was Drum Major in the Drum and Bugle Corp.

Herb is survived by his companion, Nancy J. Arthur; children, Jerry L. Arthur (Jackie), Tony G. Arthur, Jeffrey P. Arthur (Cheri), Dianne E. Penley (Brian), Brenda E. Fox, Carol E. Savage (Bruce), also Denise Reitzel, Kerry Hamilton, Randy Hamilton and Carolyn Sue Hamilton; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A brother, Donald E. Arthur, and Eva Hamilton, preceded him in death.
