Homer Cleveland Young, age 83, of Maryville, passed away Friday, March 10, 2006 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He attended several Baptist Churches in Blount County over the years. He was a veteran of the U.S Army, having served during World War II and retired from Alcoa and a member of the 25 year club as well as an avid gardener. He was born to Charlie and Julie Williams Young on October 5, 1922. Preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Harrison, great grand daughter Brennah Renea Young and brother, Willard Young. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Gregory Young; son and daughter in law, Cleve and Helen Young; daughter and son in law, Reta and Larry Brown; daughter, Judy Birchfield; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Hellen Young Watson; half sister, Lee Harris Wilson; half brothers, Lowell and Melvin Harris all of Maryville and Vernon and Randall Harris of Michigan; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks for the kindness and caring of Judy Gallagher RN and the staff on the 5th floor of Blount Memorial Hospital and to Dr. Deaver Shattuck MD. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Johnny Davis officiating. Interment to follow at Dotson Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
