June was born to Rose & Hudson Gresham, in 1923. Her parents named her June, because they had met in the month of June. She was 8 1/2 years old, when her sister was born. June was always a strong woman, a "can-do", high achiever, who never gave up. She was a diligent worker, "failure", was not in her vocabulary. June loved the Lord and always had a generous, giving heart. Even during the last 8 years of her life, when she fought the debilitating effects of Guillian Barr, she was more concerned for others, than herself.

June was kind and giving, she truly lived her life as a contribution to others. Her life long motto was to, "live for others & glorify the Lord in all you do."

When June graduated High School, always the adventurer, she left Denver for the excitement of California, where she had once traveled with her family. She found work right away. June turned 18, while in California. The next year, June met her sweetheart Jimmy, who was serving with the U.S. Navy. They fell in love and were married 2 1/2 weeks later on Sept. 23, 1942. Everyone said they were crazy and were sure it wouldn't last. Jim & June were happily married 61 years, until her death. They were life long best friends.

A year after they were married, a few months after Jim's ship left for the South Pacific, their 1st daughter was born Oct. 1943. With Jim away fighting WW II, June moved back to Denver. Her parents were happy to have her home and gladly cared for the baby, while June worked. It was 3 more years until Jim came home from the war. Their 2nd daughter was born in 1948. After Jim was discharged from the Navy in 1950, they settled into family life in California.

June was a member of the Loyal Order of Eastern Star. Jim & June were Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron in 1962/1963. June was later elected to the office of Deputy Grand Matron in 1968. June was active in fund raising for youth groups, cancer treatment and a blood bank. Jim & June always believed in "paying it forward."

June was successful in Real Estate and was later a self taught bookkeeper. In her youth, she was an avid ice skater. She never missed the Winter Olympic Ice Skaters, on TV. June loved roses. They had a rose garden, at every home they owned. Nearly year round, the sweet fragrance of cut roses filled the house.

After their children were grown, June had a dream come true, with the first of several trips, to the Holy Land. Later she traveled, with a missionary church group, to the Philippines for a Revival. For many years, Jim & June traveled to the Philippines, to minister for the Lord. While there, they met a village Pastor, Carlos Obana.

June, along with her husband Jim, built a new church, in Pastor Carlos's village. It was the first brick building in the village. During the monsoons it is, to this day, still their largest sturdy building. The villagers crowd as many people into the church as possible, to ride out the storms. Jim & June had a well and water pump installed, to allow the villagers to have clean water for free, instead of having to pay for water, at a nearby village.

Jim & June built a one room school house and provided for an education for the children. They paid for college in Manila, for as many of the young people as they could afford. Following college, the young people have become teachers, missionaries and nurses.

Through out those years, Jim & June continued to work full time, back home in the U.S. Over her lifetime, June had worked tirelessly to raise funds for worthy causes, yet they never spoke to others, of the cost to provide for the villagers. They paid for all of the missionary trips and support of the village, out of their own earnings and retirement fund.

For over 25 years Jim & June brought the message of God, the importance of service to others and education to the Philippine children. Now those children are touching the lives of people all over that region of the Philippines. As Jim & June aged, they were no longer able to travel or work. They continued to support the village and mentor the many kids, for whom they provided an education. The young people, are now grown and have taken over responsibility for supporting the church and educating the children, in their own and many neighboring villages. Jim & June believed in the adage, "you teach a man to fish, he can feed himself for a lifetime." Even though June is gone and Jim is elderly, their legacy lives on.

June was a wonderful friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loving, caring and compassionate woman, who was always quick to forgive. Her home was filled with laughter and everyone was welcome. Anyone who requested prayer received June's full attention. She loved the Lord and lived her life, with concern that her actions should glorify Him. She was a true woman of virtue.

June quite unexpectedly, left this earth on January 15, 2004. Her family was unprepared to say good-by. If she were here, June would gently tell us to not cry for her, as she is at peace, in the presence of Jesus. June is now reunited with her beloved parents and the rest of our loved ones, who have gone before.

We will see her again, when we are reunited in Heaven. Until then, we shall live our lives with honor to her memory.
