Jacob Rudolph W. Miller was born in Bern, Switzerland and came to america with his parents: F. Rudolf Miller and Elisabeth Elise (Witmer) Miller (also spelled Weiersmuller, Weiersmiller, Weiers muller and Weyersmuller) and his 3 siblings(soon to be 4 as his younger sister was born after they moved to america.) Jacob worked in Dunkirk NY as a foreman in a lumber mill. His brother John Miller worked there with him. Besides their regular mill work, they designed and made fancy grill work, used at that period over archways to doors. Jacob was also a fine cabinet maker. He designed and made several pieces of fine furnature. As a boy Jacob went to the German-Lutheran Church at Dunkirk, NY. He married Alice Barbara Dews on June 19, 1887. (She was from Yorkshire, England and came to America with her family when she was 14yrs old). Jacob and his wife Alice had 9 children in all. 6 boys and 3 girls. Jacob's children were raised in their mother's faith which was as Methodists. Their church was Unitarian. Jacob, his wife and children were musically inclined. They played and sang for their church choirs and were quite talented! Jacob led a long and productive life and used his many talents and skills and was a well respected man. He is buried at "Forest Lawn Columbarium" in Buffalo, NY. They had family urns at a Crematory Chapel, in their family niche is how it is listed in my information.
