Birth: Nov. 26, 1832
Death: Apr. 8, 1886

Wife of Gov Thomas E Bramlette
Mary was a descendant of distinguished Kentucky ancestors. She was born November 26, 1832, the daughter of Theresa Sutton and Dr. Christopher Columbus Graham, a Revolutionary War veteran and veteran of the War of 1812 and the Mexican War and an extraordinary adventurer and renaissance man. He was a physician, businessman, silversmith and archeologist. The Grahams were early Kentucky pioneers, residing first in Harrodsburg and then in Louisville before settling in Danville. (Teresa Sutton was born May 8, 1804, the daughter of Sarah "Sallie" Fulkerson and David Sutton. She died May 13, 1859. Christopher was born October 10, 1784, the son of Mary Worthington and James Graham, one of the legendary "Long Hunters" who explored the Kentucky Territory with Daniel Boone. The Worthingtons and Grahams came into the territory with legendary frontiersman and military hero General George Rogers Clark in 1778 and were among the early settlers and founders of Louisville the following year. Dr. Graham died at age 100 on Feb. 3, 1885. His second wife is Columbia S. Buford, 22, of Crab Orchard in 1861. She was born circa 1839 in Kentucky, the child of Elizabeth "Betsy" Shropshire and Thomas Buford, a grandson of James Buford and Elizabeth Bramlett, sister of Rev. William Bramblett Jr. ) Jefferson County Court Minutes, which indicate Thomas died intestate in 1875, name Mary as administrator of his estate and guardian of his sole surviving child: his daughter Corinne (Order Book 34:467). Mary and Thomas did not have children. She and Corinne moved to New York after Thomas died. After Corinne married in New York in 1883, Mary returned to Kentucky and later died there in Boyle County on May 17, 1886NOTE. She was buried two days later beside the graves of her parents in Bellevue Cemetery on North First Street in Danville. (Her tombstone, which incorrectly indicates she died May 8, 1886, identifies her as "Wife of Gov. T. E. Bramlette" and "Mother," suggesting she had at least one child with Thomas Adams.)
