U.S. Congressman. Born in Brunswick, Missouri, he graduated from the Manual Training School, in 1886 and was successful in various business enterprises in St. Louis, Missouri. He was elected a member of the St. Louis Municipal House of Delegates of St. Louis and served (1897-99). In 1906, he contested as a Republican the election of Ernest E. Wood to the Fifty-ninth Congress and was reelected to the Sixtieth and Sixty-first Congresses, serving until 1911. After his term, he moved to New York City, where he engaged in the real estate, insurance and publishing businesses. He died at age 63 in Norfolk, Virginia.
