|Death: ||Jun. 16, 1854|
daughter of Isaac & Mary Brahan Gray
wife of Zachariah Cummins
In his unfinished family history, Buck Cummins writes of Lydia, "Lydia was called 'Big Granny' by many of her descendants and she must have been a fine and widely known midwife. The biography of her grandson, John Logan Cummins, in Portrait and Biographical Review, of Johnson, Massac, Pope and Hardin Counties, published by Biographical Publishing Company, Chicago, 1893, states that she was a 'physician amd travelled many, many miles on horseback to care for her patients.'"
Lydia was the daughter of Mary "Polly" Brahan Gray. Her step-father, Isaac Gray raised her and signed the consent form for her to marry Zachariah Cummins.
